Sometimes things go wrong. At the CCRC, we help to put it right.
From time to time, a criminal case ends with a wrongful conviction or sentence – there may have been errors at trial, or fresh evidence may have emerged. Sometimes, there are wider systemic problems which affect whole groups of cases and result in wrongful convictions. Over the last 25 years the CCRC has referred almost 800 cases for a fresh appeal.
We are looking for a reliable and astute Casework Operations Manager to help deliver the CCRC’s core purpose of finding and investigating suspected miscarriages of justice, someone committed to achieving our strategic aims of excellence in casework and enhanced engagement with stakeholders and media.
As Casework Operations Manager, you will monitor the criminal justice landscape, so that we can do more to find potential miscarriages of justice. You will also be responsible for delivering developments in policy and practice to drive continuous improvement in the quality of our casework and investigations.
Although you won’t have your own portfolio of cases, you will need to have the experience, skills and analytical ability to review a case and to understand – and where necessary, question - progress on some of our most complex and challenging reviews.
You will be responsible for supporting the CCRC's casework Operations Director in monitoring casework performance, and progress against our operational plan, so you need to be comfortable with management information and enthusiastic about adopting new technology. You’ll be ensuring best use of our Dynamics Case Management System.
You will work with internal and external stakeholders, so you’ll be diplomatic, adept at working with and influencing others, and alert to issues of risk and reputation.
You must be positive and determined, highly organised and able to deliver at pace whilst maintaining accuracy and a keen eye for detail – the type of person who can be relied upon to solve problems.
If that sounds like you, and you want to help shape the next 25 years of the CCRC, then we would be delighted to hear from you.
